Objectives

  • Introduce the main elements of Plant Design as applied to chemical and petrochemical plants
  • Present and explain the methodology used by major corporations to execute their projects
  • Give participants practical experience, by guiding them through a complete example

Who should attend:

Chemical engineering seniors, recent graduates, or plant management and engineering staff who want to acquire or deepen their knowledge of this subject. Other engineers will also benefit, as full attention is given to the interaction of the process engineer with the other disciplines involved in a project.

Course Outline

Our Plant Design Workshop covers all important aspects of Plant Design, such as:

  • Main steps of a project (some examples below):
  • Inception (initial idea)
  • Defining Objectives
  • Licensor Search
  • Proposals
  • Basic Engineering Package
(Contents of all important project documents are discussed)
    • Project Design Basis
    • Process Simulation
    • Heat and Material Balances
    • Process Flow Diagrams
    • and many others...
  • Detail Engineering
  • Operator Training
  • Startup

The lectures, which are fully illustrated with slides, are followed by a two-day workshop where participants will work through a complete project example.
